Remote Access

In some circumstances you may request assistance to resolve your problem by allowing a Technician to take control of your computer. Geekshive uses qualified and proper tools which allow you to grant control of your computer to a Technician, so that he or she can diagnose and correct any problem remotely over the internet. Technicians can chat with you via this Remote Access Software, but any further action, such as sending a file, viewing your desktop or taking control of your computer, requires express permission from you first. In addition, Technicians will not use Remote Access tools to obtain confidential information stored on your computer or network and they will not destroy or delete any file on your computer or network unless it's necessary for the resolution of your problem.

During a Remote Access session, a Technician can use a wide variety of diagnostics application which may collect a variety of useful information about your computer hardware, operating system and installed software. This information is transferred securely encrypted, employing end-to-end, 256-bit SSL encryption (the same security levels used and trusted by major banking institutions) to Geekshive servers where the Technician will analyze it to help diagnose and solve your computer related problems. Geekshive does not collect or store sensitive information such as visited web sites, passwords, e-mail messages, e-mail addresses, etc.

During a Remote Access support session a "chat log" is created and updated in real-time on your computer. This chat log contains all the events and actions performed by the technician, for example, when a file is sent or deleted as well as all the chat messages that pertain to a particular support session. You can make a copy of this chat log, ask the technician to leave a copy on your computer's desktop and you can delete it at your own discretion. Geekshive will make a copy of the chat log and store it on its servers as long as necessary, accompanying metadata, such as the file name and MD5 Hash thumbprint of transmitted files, is also included in the log when applicable.

The use of the Remote Access software and the diagnostics applications is also subject to the terms of use in the respective software license agreements.
